Beijing Ditan Hospital (formerly known as the First Infectious Diseases Beijing Hospital) was founded in 1946. It is a 3A city hospital(top—level hospital in our grading system)under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Health，Beijing Municipal Health Bureau and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It plays several roles as follows：1.teaching hospital of Peking University Health Science Center for more than 50 years and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine,2.designated-hospital for the treatment of AIDS with Chinese Medicine,3.institution for Master and Ph.D. students of epidemiology,4.National Base for Clinical Trials of Hepatopathy and AIDS Pharmaceuticals,5.Clinical Training Base for AIDS integrated control demonstration plot under the Ministry of Health,6.Clinical Base of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for Treating Infectious Diseases with TCM and Western Medicine ,7.Research Center for Viral Infectious Disease of Beijing Municipal Health Bureau,8.Beijing AIDS Clinical Research Center. The hospital undertakes the diagnosis and treatment of 37 legally-designated communicable diseases except tuberculosis.

he newly built hospital has covered 75,000㎡ , furnished with 600 beds which can be added to 840 if necessary and 1100 staffs. There are 35 clinical and medical technology sections. With the advantage in hepatopathy treatment, infectious diseases therapy, intensive care and comprehensive treatment with Chinese medicine and Western medicine, Beijing Ditan Hospital are striving to strengthen departments of the gynaecology and obstetrics, surgery, paediatrics, ophthalmology otorhinolaryngology and stomatology, psychological counseling and fully develop cardia internal medicine, kidney, endocrine and other departments.
