The Royal North Shore Hospital

Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), together with Ryde Hospital, form the North Shore Ryde Health Service.

Established in 1885, RNSH and its associated health services meet the health needs of four local government areas, Mosman, Willoughby, Lane Cove and North Sydney.

RNSH is a tertiary teaching hospital of the University of Sydney (medicine, allied health), University of Technology, Sydney (nursing), and Australian Catholic University (nursing and allied health).

RNSH is a principal tertiary referral centre as well as a NSW Trauma Centre. The state-wide services provided by RNSH are:

  • Severe burns injury
  • Neonatal intensive care
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Interventional neuroradiology

The Kolling Institute of Medical Research is located on the RNSH campus. Researchers and clinicians are involved in practical medical research, designed to bring breakthroughs in the laboratory to the patients’ bedsides.
